Sola Scriptura

by geofreyr

Referred to as Sola Scriptura and a teaching that separates Catholic theology from some non-Catholic theology, is the Bible the sole authority with which we should derive God’s teaching?

Gen 17

First interesting thing here is that God is not concerned with a persons age when it comes to requiring you to be faithful -never too old!

He then goes on to make the covenant with Abraham requiring circumcision as a reminder. Side note when you have boys in this day and age it certainly makes me wonder more than once if they should be circumcised or not?? Outstanding question I guess.

Gen 16

This certainly is the strangest set of events when you think about it.
A wife gives her husband a slave to sleep with and then she gets pregnant – ok, and it is her idea. Then the slave thinks that she is a little better than what she really is, easy to see how that might happen, and a small war is started.

Suddenly the wife is totally against the idea and the slave is chased out.

I am sure is is presented here so that we can learn some very important lessons about woman!
1. Never be unfaithful to a woman even if it was her idea.
2. Never allow another woman to get even the perception of the upper hand on your wife.
3. Don’t underestimate the value of children to woman, they understand the value and may go to great lengths to do what they think is right with regards to them.
